I want to become a school counselor. I am a senior in college and majoring in psychology. I love to see and help people succeed. Principals, teachers, counselors, and administrators always was some what my role model while growing up. I wanted to become a history teacher, but decided that I wanted to help people mentally and grow to love education. I believe that people need to learn that college is not about making a lot of money, but enjoying something you love and like to do. I have decent GPA and I plan on taking the GRE in the Spring. I want to get my masters in school counseling and work at an high school, but middle schools are fine?

Start with psychology as a bachelor's degree followed by a master's in school counselling. See http://www.payscale.com/rcsearch.aspx?category=Degree%2FMajor+Subject&str=school+counselling&CountryName=United+States&SourceId=Degree

and struggle to live on little income with large debts.

if in USA, spend a few weeks in BLS.gov/OOH

for real world info of 'school' systems.

do expect to move for work 100 -2000 miles

as openings are extremely limited.

do look for other work while applying to 100s of places
