How accurate are online IQ Tests, I just took the test on www.SmartestofUS.com and scored 139.5? They showed me my ranking against all other test takers and I ranked in the top 15%. It’s a difficult test, 50 questions, 30 minutes. Are these tests accurate?

No online IQ test is accurate. Online test's ask you for your knowledge, while real IQ tests are suppose to minimize the amount of knowledge is tested and focus on the capabilities of your mind.

To get a real IQ test you need to take one with a professional, because they are an integral part of the process. IQ test's are not suppose to be just a written exam.

To get a real one go to your local high school or university and they'll give you the relevant contact information.

There are a lot of different ones and the quality varies. The worst ones demand that you give your cell # to receive the results or have you click pass a dozen pages of ads to see your score. Be wary of giving over your email address, since you'll gets tons of spam. One of the worst is the one with the Einstein graphic which asks who was the 16th president. Real IQ tests don't ask these sorts of things.

There are a few decent sites that give you a score without a hassle but the accuracy is open to debate. You should order the mensa home test from their web site to see what a real test looks like. It's very different from the online kind. I can't assess the test you mention because it is a site that demands that you register into a drawing to win prizes which I avoid as a rule.

I would say not very accurate, considering your score is usually based on how you did relative to other people who took the test, and it's very easy for people to cheat on an online test. If you take into account all of the cheaters, online tests probably underestimate what your IQ would be on a controlled test.

Even a real IQ test cannot be accurate , there really isn't a way to measure an IQ , you'll always qet a different answer , but my IQ is 127 and thats pretty hiqh , if your IQ was 139 you would be EXTREMELY smart .

Just about as accurate as the career test my brother took in school where 95% of the grade got Park ranger, Field Nurse, or movie stuntman as a career.
