Does your school have a House system?

Well, I assume that most schools do, but I wouldn't know because I only went to one ... mine. :P
What house were you in at school? What was it called? Did you have a house colour?
I was in Porter, and our colour was green. The colour was, and still is, incorperated into the school hats and ties.

What about you? What kind of house competitions did/do you have? How important were the Houses within school?
Thanks, I just wondered. :D

yup...........my school did have the house system.there were 4 houses.......the colours were red, yellow, green and blue..........they were named after 4 famous saints........the names were st.francis,st.joseph,st.clare and st.thevenet respectively.........these colours were Incorporated in our belts.one day a week we used to have mass pt(physical training),on those days we were supposed to wear the shirts having the colour of our house.

we were really enthusiastic about the house system.........we used to have inter house competitions and we used to put all our heart and soul into the preparation.........know what, when i was in the 5th grade i was selected as the house prefect, and during that one year my house won the annual trophy for best disciplined house!!!!!!!i was so proud !!!!and i was asked to say something at the event......the only thing i could say was......thank you to all my housemates for their co-operation.......they are a few memories i will always cherish....

i miss school!!!!!!

thanks for asking this question and giving me this opportunity to discuss my love for my school and its house system........

Yes are houses in my old school, the 4 names and colours have NOT changed since the school opened in 1958.

I was in Rodney, and it's colour was yellow.

We got House Points for good work and sports events. At the end of the school year the House with the most points gets to go off for a Fun Day - in the past the days have included a trip to Weymouth, Butlins at Minehead and Alton Towers.

Yes! My school had a house system, with 7 houses named for famous men and a colour attached to each house. We wore a coloured ribbon on our school uniform so were aware that bad behaviour reflected not only on our school but also on our house.

There was inter-house competition with points and awards to be won, just as in Harry Potter. There were House Captains and Deputies, then House Captains for things like swimming, cricket, hockey, etc. In the VIth form, I was Trelawney House swimming captain.

Our houses were called, Cabot (red), Canning, Chatterton, Drake (yellow), Grenville, Trelawney (pale blue) and Tyndale (purple). The other colours were brown, green and dark blue - can't remember which belonged to which names, it was a long time ago - I left school in 1955.

Our Headmistress, Dame Mary Green, left the year before me and went to become the Head of the first Comprehensive School in the Country - called Kidbrook.

The school I currently teach in employs the house system, but I don't think it's really utilised to its full potential. We rarely have inter-house competitions or events, and there's no real 'pride' in belonging to a particular house. This will possibly change, as the system has only been reintegrated over the last couple of years.

We have Turner (which my tutor group belong to), Woolfe, Blake and Novello houses - Yellow, blue, green and purple. The colours are represented by little sheild-shaped badges, but that's about it!

The Grammar school I went to had a house system. Each house had a colour (red, blue, green, yellow) but each also had a name (of a person or place connected with the school, eg. the founder's name). Most of the schools of which I have experience, both primary and secondary, have house systems, usually with 4 house using the same colours but with different names, which are usually selected for reasons appropriate to the school (eg. one uses the name of four local lakes. In the old names houses were used mainly for sports competitions, etc, but nowadays the house system is used to amass merit points for work, behaviour and effort as well as for sporting prowess. In my opinion it is a good system.

a good number of my buddies who stay in Canada have properties! I stay in america, yet we do have form colours. each and each form gets assigned a shade, which they save till they graduate. There are 4 colours (because of the fact there are 4 varieties consistent with branch). Bridge varieties: form I (pink) form II (Orange) form III (purple) form IV (eco-friendly) larger varieties: form V (pink) form VI (Orange) form VII (purple) form VIII (eco-friendly) it extremely is in simple terms a splash perplexing, yet with the type colours we've shade wars (like the better varieties - V by way of VIII - have hallway competitions, or form shade days, and so on..) ~a sparkling beginning up BQ: nicely I particularly have a chum named candy (Candace) Cane.
