Question:
A level subjects for medicine?

I am currently in year 11, and I would like to study medicine when I am older. I am currently thinking about studying chemistry, biology, maths (probably mechanics as at my school, the mechanics teachers are better, and I find mechanics more interesting than statistics), physics, and music. Then I was thinking of dropping either physics or music, and carrying on with biology, chemistry, maths, and then either physics or music at A2 (or maybe both?).
Would these be suitable for medicine? I know I can get at least an A in all of them for A level (my teachers have told me this), and hopefully I will be able to get at least 1 A* for A level, but do you think that there is enough variety in these subjects? And do you think that music is considered a 'soft option'?
Thank you xx

Yes they are the perfect options you need although make sure it is definitley what you want to do and you will be able to achieve the good grades.

Yes i would consider music a soft subject. It may be a bit pointless taking it as it won't help you with uni/a career but if you're good at it and want to do it you should as a soft subject.

Good luck, hope this helps

hi! the huge element with Oxford and Cambridge is how nicely you do on your BMAT try for drugs, and additionally your GCSE effects. It does sound that your cousin is highly intelligent and in a position, so this could not be a difficulty. Chemistry is largely a would desire to, and that i might truly advise biology alongside with it. maximum scientific faculties require the two, or a minimum of the two to AS point and one to A2 point. As for the 0.33, it truly relies upon on hobbies. i might advise doing a non-technological know-how project as a 0.33 decision, only to tutor variety, in spite of the undeniable fact that it may be a organic project, such as English, French, German (and so on.), background, particularly than regulation, or RE, or sociology. organic project take you plenty extra with Oxbridge. As for taking 4, so taking 3 sciences (bio, chem, maths or physics) and a non-technological know-how project, you're actually not unavoidably at an benefit. The grant would be conditional on 3 matters, and a few applicants locate that taking 4 matters propose they're much less specialized, and would have completed extra advantageous if that they had taken in trouble-free terms 3. truly advise your cousin to start with 4 matters, and then after AS evaluate dropping or wearing on. I wish your cousin each and all of the fulfillment interior the international!
