In most schools and business they have a search and seizure policy. If they take anything they are supposed to let you know what was taken. If they do not, then yes that is stealing and against the policy.

It is illegal for someone to go through your things without your permission. If they then steal something you have the right to take them to court for the value of what ever was taken. even if it is the police they have to ask your permission first unless they have a search warrant, and even then they can only search for the things listed in the warrant.

Of course stealing is illegal. But if you're talking about your mom stealing you cigarettes or your roomate stealing your lipstick, good luck. Get a lock box and store all you private/tempting articles in there.

Well, let's review. Who is the someone? Mom and dad at home? Yes, it's legal. The principal at the school. Yes, it's legal. A sargeant in the military? Yes, it's legal. A so called friend in your drawers while you are at home and using the restroom, no...totally illegal. Depends on the situation.

stealing is always a crime. Proving someone went throughyuor stuff can be tough unless it was locked, and forced entry can be shown. But stealing is always illegal.
