Why are you pasting it? That's probably why you are losing the formatting. Have it open in word with all your changes saved, and then click on the email icon in the toolbar. Looks like an envelope with a little note in front of it. Or click, File, Send to, Mail recipient. It comes up like a normal outlook email, but with your document where the body of the message would be. Try that - test send it to yourself first maybe.

i come around the right thanks to attempt that's comprise the cover letter interior the e-mail, and deliver the resume as an attachment, that way the fellow receiving the e-mail isn't beaten by utilizing textual content and would see that the cover letter explains the e-mail, and they could open the resume seperately. that is extra suitable on both ends and plus seems extra professional.

I think what you are trying to accomplish will actually be different on different email clients. Try copying and pasting into an email from my favorite notepad-style program TextPad.
You can also try attaching it as a straight .txt file which will get rendered in some email clients as formatted text and not just as an attachment. Also check out http://www.forwardyourresume.com and http://www.jobsearchtoolbar.com Thanks and good luck. Mitch
