I am changing my address with the United States Postal Service online and my address is also my business address. My company is called "ABC HANDYMAN CORPORATION"

Some mail comes addressed to the business as ABC Handyman while others say ABC Handyman Corp. while others say ABC Handyman Corporation

3 different variation.

When I file the change of address with the United States Postal Service online, should I do it 3 times with all 3 variations or is just doing one of them sufficient?

one time is sufficient, the forwarding office will take care of the other variations. as long as you put that it it a business you should be ok. When you receive your mail at your new address. it should have a yellow sticker on it and there will be a code for your change. It will say ABC-the last three digits in your previous address. You might also want to think about putting in a name change if you get your business mail that does not have your business name on it but has your name.

Good question.

The correct answer is:

You will only have to fill out one card. The USPS uses the first 4 letters of the business name and the last 3 numbers in the address as the code in the mail forwarding system. Since all of your mail starts with ABC there is no need to fill out multiple cards. If you receive mail addressed at that address with your personal name, then you should also do a change for your name.

In answer to the other fellow who has had trouble...Did you know that about 1 in 3 change of address cards are filled out incorrectly by the people who are moving? Please don't blame the USPS.

Call the post office 800 number (see your local phone book)and ask them, for the most reliable information. Common sense would dictate that any of those names would get to you, but I have not had much success with applying common sense to post office behavior. To be on the safe side, fill out 3 cards. However, Corp. is a legal abbreviation for Corporation and it should not be necessary to make a distinction.

You should do at least 2. The USPS is really stupid and they probably won't get it right the first time. I've moved in the past year and I still get mail for my Father who has name very different from mine but my last. If you continue to have problems, you may need to go to your local USPS office and talk to a supervisor to finally get this taken care of. Unfortunately, you have to turn in a change of address form before they will help you any further. Good luck.
